Welcome to Jean Wong's Fall Knitting Getaway in beautiful Richmond, British Columbia (a suburb of Vancouver). The knitting retreat will be held Friday, October 26, 2007 until 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 28, 2007 at the Best Western Richmond Hotel and Conference Centre. http://www.richmondinn.com/
Jean will be teaching her own design: -- a Tuxedo Vest -- over the 2 3/4 day course. The vest directions will be customized to each person's own unique measurements.
Registration and Payment
Registration is open to 20 people and will be on a first come, first served basis. The cost of the course is U.S. $300.00 which includes a $10.00 non- refundable registration fee. Please go to Jean's website: www.knittingwithjean.com to access the registration form and her Pay Pal account.
Note: If the online store indicates "sold out", all 20 spots have been filled. Jean is always interested in opening more classes, so please email Peg Gravelle at peg_gravelle@yahoo.com if this is the case, she will place you on a waiting list and let you know of any new class openings!
Hotel
Hotel rooms and meals are the responsibility of the attendee. We have been able to secure a $119.00 plus taxes/night rate either single or double occupancy at the Best Western Richmond Hotel and Conference Center beginning Thursday, October 24, 2007. The hotel is located less than 10 minutes from Vancouver International Airport at 7551 Westminster Highway, Richmond, BC 604-244-3775 or toll free 1-800-663-0299. Please call the hotel directly to book your room and mention the Jean Wong Knitting getaway to get the special rate. To include a third person in the room, please add $15.00. Parking at the hotel will be $10.00 per day extra. These rates are in effect three days prior to the knitting retreat and three days afterwards on a space available basis. All hotel reservations should be made by Tuesday, September 25, 2007. After this date, reservations can be made on an availability basis and at the best available rate.
Classes
The classes will be conducted at the hotel in one of their conference rooms beginning at 9:00 a.m. and lasting until 4:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. On Sunday the class will dismiss at 3:00 p.m. There will be morning and afternoon breaks with lunch from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. There are numerous restaurants within walking distance of the hotel for lunch.
Special Event/Banquet
For those who are interested in trying some of the excellent Chinese cuisine in Richmond, Jean will take us to one of her favorite restaurants in Richmond Saturday night. The cost of the dinner will be $35.00 per person. Please let us know if you have any food allergies.
Homework and Supplies
Purchase 2-3 skeins of Noro Silk Garden and between 6-10 skeins of main (solid) color in the same gauge and weight.
Pencil, Colored pencils, eraser, scissors
Darning Needle or bodkin
Metric ruler at least 30 cm (in metric system).
Crochet hook at least 1 or 2 sizes larger than your knitting needles
Crochet hook at least 1 or 2 sizes smaller than your knitting needles

Knitting needles that you used for the swatches>
Prior to class please knit two (2) 6 inch x 6 inch swatches as follows:
1st Swatch
2 rows garter stitch Main color
2 rows stockingknit stitch in Noro
Repeat these 4 rows until you have completed your swatch
2nd Swatch (Main Color)
2 rows garter stitch
2 rows stockingknit stitch
2 rows garter stitch
4 rows stockingknit stitch
Repeat these 10 rows until you have completed your swatch
Refunds
If you find it it necessary to cancel your class, refunds will be made in full less a $15.00 processing fee prior to September 10. After that a $50.00 processing fee will be charged until September 25. After September 25 no refunds will be made.

Your personal information will be kept strictly confidential and your contact information will not be sold, shared, or otherwise distributed to any other person or group. Jean's Knitting with only utilize your contact information to inform you of future classes conducted by Jean.
Special Note: If you fly to Vancouver, you must have a valid passport to return to the United States. If driving, birth certificates and driver's licenses are also acceptable.
